Wagner to Liszt as @NewYorker profiles Esperanza Spalding
I have felt the pulse of modern art and know that it will die! This knowledge fills me not with despondency, but with joy. We shall live only in the present, in the here and now and create works for the present age alone. A challenging thought in a piece about a wonderful and challenging musician. I've had only a limited exposure to the music and liked everything I've heard. I really want to hear more now.
