Prime by Drone

Jeff Bezos let the cat out of the bag about this on 60 Minutes last night (I missed it), and its all over The Times, WaPo, and Twitter this morning. NOVA's notice leads to a pretty thorough overreview of drone applications I especially like the mention of uses for utility companies.

Utility companies could benefit from drones. Trapnell predicts they will one day patrol pipelines and power lines to monitor for problems. Small helicopter drones may fly close to wind turbines to make video inspections..

That puts me in mind of one of my favorite stories, The Bear and the Honey Pot.

Do I really have to wait five years for my first thirty-minute delivery?

Glass and Androids

I've been curious about Google's Glass for a long time now. AJ Jacobs really got my attention this morning with a coupler of assertions in this tale of his own experience with Glass: You cannot stop technology and his final We are on the long slow march to becoming part Android.  (Well, alright, when he spoke about how polarizing Glass is he said "You either love it or hate it—It's like Hillary Clinton or cilantro.")
